Bow Flex - Overview
More Details Installation

The cause of bowing walls in old buildings may well be due to the fact that no mechanical connection between the floor or ceiling joists and the masonry exists. The Bow Flex tie restores this connection.

Installed through a 12mm hole from the outside of the property the 8mm diameter material connects either into the side of the second floor joist or into the end grain when the joist runs into the bowed wall. The connection back to the masonry is made with Target polyester resin.

Once installed, the Grade 304 austenitic stainless steel tie is easily proof tested using a Target Universal Load Test Unit. As a general rule of thumb, a proof test load of 1kN horizontally will restrain a vertical load of about 4 tonnes in a two storey wall with a 50mm bow.
