What you need to know about your roof in order to proceed

  • The wind zone of the building's location (see map below)
  • The slope of the land within 1km of the building
  • The thickness of the counterbatten (mm)
  • The overall height of the building (m)
  • Whether the roof has a stop batten
  • The laid tile weight (kg/m2)
  • The pitch of the roof
  • The total roof area (m2)
  • The thickness of the insulation (mm)
  • The thickness of any other material above the rafters (mm)
  • Whether the rafters are hardwood or softwood
  • The counterbatten/rafter centres (mm)

Determine the wind zone the building is in from the map below
 Wind Zone A - Basic wind speed up to 44 m/s
Wind Zone B - Basic wind speed of 44-52 m/s
Wind Zone C - Basic wind speed over 52 m/s

Select the relevant wind zone:
